Arrest Bechtel Friday for Misappropriation of Funds

Arrest Bechtel Friday for Misappropriation of Funds

This Friday, January 20, the New Priorities Campaign joins other peace  and justice organizations in demonstrating against Bechtel  Corporation, one of the largest United States military contractors.  The fifth largest privately held company in the United States, Bechtel  uses strong ties to Washington to place people in key government  positions and divert billions of dollars each year from needed social  services to nuclear weapons, war, and projects that benefit the global  elite. Like other multinational corporations, Bechtel has grown rich  building a global economy that has left much of humanity on the  outside looking in.

Join us in calling for a fundamental change of priorities. The protest  will take place all day in front of Bechtel’s global headquarters at  50 Beale Street, one block from the Embarcadero BART station, and  includes a teach-in, informational leafleting, and action. Iraq  Veterans Against the War will also perform street theater at various  points during the day. The schedule at Bechtel is as follows:

3pm Bechtel’s Making a Killing:  Teach-In , with music and speakers  from the New Priorities Campaign, Iraq Veterans Against the War,  Nuclear Free California Network, the Fellowship of Reconciliation,  Global Exchange, and more.

4:30 March to Justin Hermann Plaza to join victory celebration

Events will go forward rain or shine. War and military contracts  continue regardless of weather, and so will we.

The action is part of Occupy SF’s plan to Occupy Wall Street West.  Dozens of actions are planned in San Francisco’s financial district to  protest corporate greed, foreclosures, and corporate personhood on the  eve of the anniversary of the Citizen’s United Supreme Court decision.
